David Gyngell, Chief Executive Office Nine Network One of Australia’s most influential and experienced television executives, David Gyngell was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Nine Network Australia in September 2007. The appointment marked his return to the Nine Network from the United States, where he had been CEO of television production and distribution company Granada. Before moving to the US, he was the Nine Network’s CEO from May 2004 to May 2005 and prior to that he was Nine’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer – a role he held from August 2002. At the Nine Network, David presided over the creation of one of Australia’s highest rating programs ever, The Block, and also negotiated major sporting rights for the network. He has also worked as Executive Director, Group Marketing and Communications for Publishing & Broadcasting Limited. Before moving into television, David was Director of Corporate Management at International Management Group (IMG) and Transworld Media International. David has also held several directorships in a range of high profile companies.

Jeffrey Browne, Network Executive Director & Managing Director, GTV 9 (Melbourne) Nine Network Jeffrey Browne was appointed Managing Director of GTV 9 (Melbourne) in September 2007. This was in addition to his existing role as Executive Director of the Network which is a role that he has held since April 2006. This involves leading the Network’s broadcast negotiations in many areas of the business as well managing the executive team and direction of the Melbourne station. Prior to joining Nine, Jeffrey enjoyed a distinguished career in business and the law. Jeffrey was the Senior Partner and Chairman of legal firm, Browne & Co with offices in Melbourne and Sydney. He advised many large Australian and International corporations and was heavily involved in a wide range of media issues including television content rights agreements, production agreements, talent contracts, Pay-TV and the internet. Jeffrey sits on the Board of Free TV Australia and the Australian News Channel.

Steve Crawley, Head of Sport Nine Network Steve Crawley joined Nine in 2002, and was appointed Head of Sport in 2006 after being Executive Producer of Sport. Steve previously worked as General Manager of C7 Sport and Sports Editor at Channel 7 having begun his television career at Channel Ten where, as Executive Producer, he launched Sports Tonight and was Head of Network News/Sport. He began his career as a sports writer, covering major events around the world, including Wimbledon, Olympic Games and major horse racing, and was Sports Editor of The Sun Herald. He has written three books, including the best seller Don’t Die With The Music In You with Brisbane Broncos coach Wayne Bennett.

Michael Healy, Network Programming Director Nine Network Michael Healy is the Director of Programming for the Nine Network Australia. Michael joined the Network in 1982 and has held a number of programming and presentation roles during that time. Michael’s wide range of responsibilities includes formulating the Network’s programme schedule, its programme management and ongoing strategic development. He also manages Nine’s international programming operations as well as the acquisition of the Network’s international content. Michael’s various roles with Nine have included Network Programme Manager (1996 – 2003), Network Presentation and Promotions Manager (1992 to 1996), Network Presentation Manager (1990 - 1992), Assistant Network Presentation Manager (1989 - 1990) and Presentation Manager for STW-9 Perth (1985 -1989), where he began as Assistant Traffic Manager (1982 – 1985).

Heidi Virtue, Director of Publicity & Talent Relations Nine Network Heidi Virtue rejoined the Nine Network Australia as Director of Publicity & Talent Relations in March 2007. Heidi is a television publicity specialist. Most recently, Heidi was employed at FOXTEL as Publicity Consultant & Talent Manager, and before that, she was Public Relations Manager for Australia's most famous fashion label, Collette Dinnigan. Heidi began her career in television at the Nine Network in 1994 as a Publicist. She worked in various roles, including a stint in the Programming Department, and as Sydney Publicity Manager until 2003 when she left to pursue other PR experience. A love of television brought her back to the Network. Heidi oversees Nine’s national publicity department as well as the Network’s vast array of personalities and talent.

John Westacott, Director of News & Current Affairs Nine Network John Westacott has been with the Nine Network Australia for over 20 years and holds the position of Director of News & Current Affairs.
John was the Executive Producer of 60 Minutes for much of this time creating ongoing ratings success for the current affairs powerhouse. John was previously Executive Producer of A Current Affair and before that Executive Producer of the Today Show. John has worked on a range of programmes including Business Sunday and Burke’s Backyard and spent time at both ABC TV and Network Ten.
Before television, Westacott spent 15 years in newspapers culminating in the role of Assistant Editor of The Australian.

Peter Wiltshire, Network Sales Director Nine Network Peter Wiltshire joined the Nine Network as its Sales Director in May 2006, overseeing all revenue and sales strategy for the Network. Peter’s experience in media includes various sales and management roles in both radio and television. He spent five years as Director of Sales at Southern Cross Broadcasting, one of Australia’s leading media companies with diverse assets spanning metropolitan radio, metropolitan and regional television and television operations. Peter’s experience in media includes a long stint with Network Ten in both Adelaide and Melbourne, spanning over 12 years. |
